Anbu Group is a Sri Lankan consortium engaged in import and export of agriculture commodities for human and animal consumption.
Under the aegis of our Chairman and Managing Director, Mr. Anbalan Saverimuthu we continue to uphold our legacy and elevate the company to new heights. Our Story We trace our humble beginnings
Our humble beginnings can be traced back to a small village in India, where V. Saverimuthu made a living working as a teacher. Our story starts when Saverimuthu came across an advertisement in the local newspaper. Who would have thought then that a simple advertisement was going to turn his life around?
He packed his bags and set out to explore the tropical island, south of India with his friend, a place he knew nothing about. He settled down in Sri Lanka and started working for a small firm as an accountant. Not long after he wagered into business in 1971, this time taking over a completely rundown mill called Noorjahan Grinding Mill being abandoned by its previous owner, who was returning back to India.
Soon enough Saverimuthu proved his business acumen when he established his flagship brand Anbu Brothers Pvt. Ltd. in 1976 and went on the be a reputed trader of local agricultural commodities in Colombo. He took the business from strength to strength and successively started imports and exports in 1983, when the Sri Lankan markets opened up to the world, subsequently winning several government tenders.
The Anbu Group expanded again in 1982 initiating Anbu Steel Pvt. Ltd, dealing in structural steel and Priya Feeds in 1999, a pioneer in poultry feed raw material. In 2002, the group was also awarded the license to be the authorised dealer of Prima flour due to its longstanding affiliation with Ceylon Grain Elevators.
Today, Anbu Group has made a name for its self. Starting off from a rundown mill, our founder’s honest vision, commitment to quality and fearless approach over the last 40 years has helped overcome hurdles, reach numerous milestones and grow to become a market leader in Sri Lanka.

Anbu Group is a big believer in fulfilling our duties as a responsible corporate citizen of this nation and we engage in annually contributing to various deserving charities including orphanages and old age homes to uplift the standards of the underprivileged.
At the same time we cannot forget our obligations to Mother Nature, the one who bears what we reap. We also plant trees, year on year, in an effort to reduce our carbon footprint.

Import
At the peak of globalisation when economies were becoming more connected and cultures were growing quickly, we saw an opportunity for growth and the Import division of the Anbu Group was established in the year 1982. Anbu Group has established an extensive network of trusted vendors around the world for the supply of premium quality agro products.
Export
The global demand for Sri Lankan spices started to peak when the world began to realise the health benefits and flavours of spices like cinnamon, turmeric and pepper etc. This called for us to seize the opportunity and the Export division was setup in 2000. Today, Sri Lanka is celebrated as the Spice Island, and the proud country of origin of some of the world's highest-quality spices and is among the top spice exporting countries in the world. Since then we have secured a diverse and excellent customer base across the world who recognise our commitment to quality.
Wholesale Distributors
At Anbu Group we process and market agricultural products of the highest quality with their own brand names to other wholesalers and retailers across Sri Lanka. For over 4 decades our flagship company has been serving kitchens around Sri Lanka offering competitively priced agro products. We are also the authorised distributor of Prima Flour since 2002.
Intendors
At Anbu Group we also offer our services and operate as Intendors or representatives for foreign companies or persons to enable agro transactions and government tenders taking place in Sri Lanka. This has been enabled by the trust our brand name has established over the years and the excellent rapport we have developed with our domestic and international clients and local authorities.
